The FBI’s Robert Mueller in his Role as The Shadow
Over the past 36 hours, the Cable News Network (CNN) and many other American journalism outlets have revealed important new facts to the American public about the Robert Mueller investigation. The Mueller team at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has given David Pecker, the CEO of The National Enquirer and long-time confidante of Donald Trump, immunity from federal prosecution in exchange for information about Trump involvement in the hush money payoffs to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal. Furthermore, Pecker may have provided the Mueller team with additional critical information about Trump’s dealings. That was menacing enough to the Trump presidency this week, but yesterday the bottom may have fallen out from under it.
CNN revealed that Alan Weisselberg, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for The Trump Organization, has also received immunity from federal prosecution by the Mueller team in exchange for desired information about Trump’s financial dealings. Weisselberg has been with Trump for decades and is believed to know just about everything there is to know about the finances of Trump and his business empire. In other words, if Trump has done anything illegal with regard to financing, taxes, banking, indebtedness, money laundering, Russian lenders, etc., Weisselberg is expected to know all about it.
The only things not known to the American news media at this time are the precise types of the already given immunity from federal prosecution (three usual options the FBI has to offer) and the full range of the subject matter Weisselberg and Pecker have already given to the FBI—and whether they will be required to give even more information. This will no doubt be revealed in more detail during the coming weeks and months of the Mueller investigation.
The dramatic news of yesterday rounded out an extremely bad criminal justice and political affairs week for the presidency of Donald J. Trump. It is increasingly evident to me and other folks in the American news media that the Mueller team at the FBI now has a hangman’s noose around the neck of Trump’s presidency.
All that remains is for the FBI to tighten the legal noose a bit, make sure the rope twists are in the right place to break the neck of Trump’s presidency, and give the signal to Congress to drop the trap door under the Trump presidency. For that reason alone, I am ready to predict here—right now—that the Trump presidency has just entered a holding cell on federal death row—-and we have a Dead Presidency Walking. Yes, I know the federal prison system uses lethal injection rather than hanging, but as the old saying goes in the American South, “lethal injection would be too easy and too good for the Trump presidency.”
I will end this written piece by making one more important point. Robert Mueller and his team already know far more about President Trump and any alleged crimes he and/or his organization may have committed. They know more than Trump, the news media, or the American people know at this time. What Trump, the news media, and the American people know about the Mueller investigation right now looks like this short line:
What Robert Mueller knows about President Trump’s affairs looks like this line:
The Mueller investigation will continue to lengthen and strengthen this already long line of information and data as time passes. We shall have to be patient and wait for the final Mueller report on the investigation and any additional criminal charges that may result from it. I do not think that will happen before the November 6, 2018, national and state elections. It may take many months beyond November 6, but I can assure your kind and loving Christian hearts of this much:
There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What [Trump] has spoken in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what [Trump] has whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the housetops (Luke 12:3).
